MARGIE
at 7-months old was found as a stray and very pregnant. This young teen mom had a Rescue that would take her and her puppies. Soon after she gave birth to her puppies – sadly – each one passed away. Once the Rescue found out her puppies died they no longer wanted to rescue sweet Margie. So they asked AWS if we would take her. Of course, we would! We welcomed Margie with open arms!
Margie had an undiagnosed case of mange and our vet thinks that's why her puppies perished.
She is currently continuing her treatment with Nexgard and her skin looks great!
Margie was not socialized with people as a puppy, so she is leery of strangers. With time, patience and love – Margie is learning to trust the staff and volunteers at AWS. She doesn’t give it up easily, you must earn her trust.

BUTTER PECAN
is a 2-year old, 45 pound mix from Puerto Rico. She is shy and skittish with new people, so she will need a calm quiet home with people who are willing to be patient and earn her trust. Butter Pecan does well with other dogs and would benefit from having another dog in the home to help her come out of her shell. She will need slow and steady socialization work to help her feel more confident.

FINLAY
and Phoebe are a pair of Great Pyrenees. They are about 5-7 years old and about 110-lbs each. They were outside farm dogs that were no longer wanted. They lived a ruff life and are looking for a retirement home where they will have all the comforts of a real home. They would prefer a home with just each other.
Phoebe is the more outgoing of the pair but Finlay warms up to new people quickly. They both have a mild energy level but love to explore the yard daily. Phoebe tested positive for heartworm and will need to have treatments.
Finlay came in with an old eye injury that left him blind in his right eye – due to infection it had to be removed. These guys are not ready to be adopted yet.

OTIS
is a 7-year old 150 pound St. Bernard. He does fine with cats but can be over whelming towards other dogs. We are looking for a family with large breed knowledge that won't mind his excessive drool and grooming needs. Otis isn't available for adoption yet but will be soon.

ZIGI
is a 1-yr old, neutered male and weighs about 25-lbs. He is a sweet boy and lots of fun once he is comfortable with you.
He didn't get the socialization he needed as a puppy, which has caused him to have some stranger danger. He is very cautious with new people and new surroundings. With patience and training we know Zigi will be a great companion to a person that has experience with insecure dogs.
The ideal home for Zigi would be a single family home with no small children under 15yrs old with no other dogs. Cats are okay.
To ensure Zigi is comfortable with his new family member he does require multiple visits before finalizing the adoption.
No out-of-state adoptions for Zigi.
