HUMANE EDUCATION

Our Humane Education Coordinator, Kris Cassar, is available along with other Education Ambassadors to present programs at the shelter or to visit classrooms and other groups.

Presentations include topics such as providing information about the shelter itself, life in an animal shelter, the importance of spaying and neutering, the human-animal bond, the truth about “puppy mills,” the feelings of loss involving a pet, responsible pet ownership, and how kids can make a difference.

Certain visits may include pets, and many involve humane education and the fostering of empathy and compassion through narrative. Kris is a trained and certified RedRover Reader.
